BABYMOON TO MYKONOS : JUNE 2015
Here's a little throwback to our Babymoon to Mykonos which we was so lovely! As I am now pregnant for a second time I am weighing up whether it will be feasable to have a babymoon before baby number 2 comes in July. We have never taken Jasmine abroad so I'm not sure how easy it would be going away heavily pregnant with a toddler. Anyway I absolutely LOVE Greece and was so excited to be able to visit here.
I'm not going to lie - it was a bit on the pricey side - but we did manage to stay within budget however the budget would have gone totally out of the window if we were drinking though as the alcohol prices were through the roof! At some of the beaches you would be looking at about£20+ for a tea/coffee and two lemonades!
Mykonos is however - stunningly beautiful! You can get lost in the old town for hours on end and with over 60 restaurants to choose from you are spoilt for choice - from traditional greek food, to italian and fresh seafood! yummy!
Little Venice was one of our favourite places to visit (shown in the photo below) All the bars/restaurants were along the shore so the waves would crash up against the walls whilst you were eating and it was also a perfect location to see the sun go down.
We stayed at the Mykonos View Hotel which is about 5-10 minute walk from Mykonos Town and about 10 minutes from the airport so it really was a great location.
I found the hotel on trip advisor and was not disappointed. We loved the authentic boutique feel and all the quirky little touches.
The hotel was on a little bit of a hill and being 7 months pregnant I did struggle in the heat walking up and down it but it wasn't too much trouble - and i guess it was some good exercise!
This hotel has the best views - hence the name. Most people would go into Mykonos town to watch the sunset, however the view was absolutely perfect from our bar/restaurant and we also had great views of all the super yachts and cruise liners coming into the dock (so much so we want to do a cruise next time we go away!)
We dined a few times in our hotel - for lunch and dinner, but as I mentioned earlier there are so many great places in the town that we had to experience them. We only ate in the hotel when i was exhausted from the heat or fancied a quiet night!
Overall, we had a really relaxing holiday. Mykonos is well known for it's partying and I guess a few years ago that would of been my thing however the main aim of this holiday was to relax and enjoy our last time away just the two of us!
We did hire a car one day which was super cheap and we are glad we did as the island is so small it can be deceiving - so you can literally travel to all the beaches in one day. If we were to go again we would probably do approx 3/4 days in Mykonos and then travel over to Santorini as that is what most people did who we met and chatted to!
We only stayed in Mykonos for a week but felt that this was more than enough time, considering all we did was sleep, eat and sunbathe. We were ready to come home but just wish England had the same temperatures in Summer!
